Weight Loss - not a diet program

Over the last twenty years of working with clients, I have seen individuals who have struggled to not only understand how to lose body fat, but also how to keep the unwanted weight off without being in the gym every day for 2 hours and following some non-realistic diet of pre-packaged drinks and meal boxes.  The weight loss industry wants you to believe that your weight gain is due to your inability to control your appetite or that you lack self control in regards to your portion sizes.

Concept #1:  The reason why you crave sugar snacks is NOT because you lack self discipline or that you don’t respect yourself, it is because you are in a continuous loop call the Carbohydrate Furnace Cycle™.  When you are in this cycle, you CAN NOT will you way out of this craving…the weight loss/manufactured meal companies don’t want you to learn this!

What the weight loss industry won’t also tell you is that the key to burning body fat and replacing it with lean muscle tissue is a combination of sensible exercises and food choices.  Notice that I didn’t use the word “Diet” – diets don’t work!  As one of my physician friends, Dr. Robert Weatherwax always says: “If diets worked, everyone would be skinny”.  Now think about that statement….

January 1st
Starting Weight: 165
You are told that you have to eat boxed meals and drinks at various times during the day. The volume of food is not enough for you to feel satisfied so you walk around constantly hungry. 

January 15th
Body Weight: 164
You are becoming tired of always being hungry and beginning to think that you have to live in a world of anger due to this feeling; however, you have decided that this is what you need to do for your health and you have to “stick it out”. You have lost a few pounds, but not sure that the benefit is worth the cost associated.  Additionally, your body has begun to slow your metabolism down to match your anemic calorie intake and your energy levels are beginning to reflect this.

January 30th

You’re done!  You realize that this doesn’t make sense: headaches, always hungry, moody and depressed because once again the weight loss market has convinced you that are not committed to your health!

February 15th

Due to a slower metabolism, your increase in calories results in the “extra calories” being converted to fat.  Your body weight shoots up to 170 and you have put the period at the end of the cycle commonly referred to as the Yo Yo Diet Cycle.

  • You begin to believe that you can’t manage your weight without the use of commercial meals and drinks
  • Commercial meals and drinks are expensive
